Hotel Key Card System Security
Hotel Key Card System Security
Hotel key cards are a very simple system that is used in many hotels. Each key card comes with a plastic strip or magnetic strip, that contains all the relevant information on a hotel guest. When a guest is checking into the hotel, personnel at the front desk will imprint the details of that guest on the key card. The guest then uses that key card at any time throughout the hotel to make changes and pay for services.
Hotel keycards also have a system that allows you to lock and unlock your hotel room from your room phone. This is one of the most useful features of this type of card, because it gives you the ability to enter and exit a hotel room without having to use a door lock. You won't have to worry about losing keys or forgetting to turn off your lights or alarm clock when you leave the hotel and are in your own personal room.
There are a few different types of smart cards that can be used in conjunction with a hotel key card system. One option is a smart card device that is accessed with a PIN (Personal Identification Number). A PIN is a four-digit number that is printed on the back of the plastic strip or magnetic stripe. This can either be printed on the interior part of the card or on the exterior side of the card. Because the pin on the smart card is usually visible from the front of the card, the process of giving a guest in, or housekeeping a key card and code to gain entrance into the hotel is made a lot easier.
Another option for a hotel key card system is key pads that are installed at the reception area of your hotel. These locks are much easier to open than traditional door locks because the guest simply places their finger on the magnetic field and goes through a series of small openings on the key pad. This type of locking system requires a wall or frame to be installed near the reception desk. These locks are most often used with automatic opening door locks.
Last but not least, a hotel key card system can also allow you to add a high-tech burglar alarm system. There are many options available that will allow you to add motion detectors, video surveillance cameras, microphones, and burglar alarms to your system. Most of these are hardwired to the main system in your hotel room. You can then add an external key lock to the internal lock as well as an internal deadbolt lock on the doors in your hotel room.
An important consideration in the hotel key card lock and the overall security of your hotel room and its contents is the possibility of a breach by a guest using a rfid credit card. In a typical road system, a guest uses his or her credit card to make purchases and then has access to a special electronic tracking device. That tracking device will indicate where the card was used within the hotel room so that the management system can be instructed to deactivate the electronic alarm. Some rfid systems have the ability to provide a one-time pin code to eliminate the need for a PIN number. A hotel key card system should be evaluated in order to determine whether or not it is appropriate for your hotel.
